Casey Anthony Defense Team

with one comment

Watching the Casey Anthony hearing today in regards to what scientific evidence will be allowed in trial, I am deeply puzzled.  Why do these defense lawyers have a job and I don’t?

Certainly I would be much better prepared and not be exposed to open ridicule by prosecutors and lay people such as myself. How hard is it to have your notes in order? Why would the defense team ask the same question over and over expecting a different answer? Isn’t that the definition of insanity?

Or, could it be this: Take up as much time as a judge will allow to spend more time in court to get…and you know where this is heading…Money. More billable hours = more money.

I am not a lawyer but I have owned a few businesses over the years. Maybe if I were to have milked my clients for every last drop of their life savings and beyond, I wouldn’t be in this current  predicament.

How many times can one be asked what the black band on a hair root indicates? And, why oh why, if they are questioning the science of hair root forensics, aren’t they questioning the doctors that made the discoveries? Why put Ms. Lowe on trial for two hours impugning her work? Why shoot the messenger?

Because it’s easier and it allows for more Billable Hours. A doctor that has actually proved the science would be more direct, more concise. He/she would make their case for the science and be done with it in about thirty minutes.

It’s sad to have such a perspective on professional people but in the majority of cases, it’s all about the money.  The Society of  (fill in the blank) will be hard pressed to admit it but we all know it’s true: Money trumps all.

Not to say that’s always a bad thing. We all want to get paid for what we do and if the pay is too low, our great country allows us to seek higher wages. What I am ticked off about watching this or most any other trial on TV is the amount of wasted time and money being tossed to the wind.

  1. You mentioned “Why would the defense team ask the same question over and over expecting a different answer?”
I was thinking the same thing while watching the Hearing today.
It was really annoying to see how time was wasted today.
I feel for Judge Perry to have to listen to All of that Crap, couldn’t be easy, after all any one can see what the Defense is up to. JMO
